Discuss two of the issues shaping the role of technology in education.
There are several different issues that the book addressed that deal with shaping the role of technology in education. The issue that I was most interested in was educational. Teachers are beginning to rely on the internet and on distance education in their classroom. Students are being offered higher quality classes through virtual learning. The critics say that distance learning is not as empowering for students as face-to-face educational experience.
The other issue that caught my attention was legal and ethical issues. Computers are receiving viruses that cause files to be lost or can cause systems to shut down. Hackers are also breaking into online systems in order to access personal data on students.
Discuss at least one of the things we have learned from the history of educational tecnhology that can help us shape todays uses.
We have learned that the use of technology in classrooms increase students participation and motivation to learn. As teachers, we should take the research and knowledge of technology and apply it into our classrooms. We should also educate our students on how to use technology.
