Two of my favorite 2.0 sites are craigslist and you-tube.
My family has always been a supporter of craigslist. That particular website has anything and everything you could possibly want or need. My dad has always sold and bought different items from that website.
You-tube is also a great website if you are looking for a laugh or if you need to figure out how to do something. For example, my husband and I were trying to put together his ladder stand and we couldn't figure it out. We went to you-tube and they had a video that showed us exactly what to do.

Week 4-Post 4
Select one example of multimedia from Chapter 6 and discuss how you would incorporate it in your classroom.
My favorite multimedia from Chapter 6 is Interactive books. There are several ways that I would incorporate it into my classroom. I teach 3rd grade reading, but I have a lot of readers that are below grade level. I would have my low readers log into a website that provides interactive books and ebooks and use the website as an intervention for the low readers. I would also have students participate in the interactive books in a center.

Drill and Practice- In my classroom, my students can log into discoveryeducation.com and complete quizes or test on different skills that we are learning in the classroom. Teachers can set the software to allow the students two attempts when answering the questions. If the students get the answer incorrect the first time, the computer allows them one more chance at answering the question correctly. Another software that I use in my classroom is Reading Assistant. Reading Assistant is a reading software that helps struggling readers increase their fluency rate. The computer reads to the students and then the student has to read the story or song back to the computer. If the student mispronounces the word, the computer will make the reader repeat the reading until the student accomplishes mastery.

Compass Odyssey is a software that is very eye-appealing to all students and is considered fun for students. Compass Odyssey teaches the skills to students through games, puzzles, and music. Week 2-Post 2
Discuss two of the issues shaping the role of technology in education.
There are several different issues that the book addressed that deal with shaping the role of technology in education. The issue that I was most interested in was educational. Teachers are beginning to rely on the internet and on distance education in their classroom. Students are being offered higher quality classes through virtual learning. The critics say that distance learning is not as empowering for students as face-to-face educational experience.
The other issue that caught my attention was legal and ethical issues. Computers are receiving viruses that cause files to be lost or can cause systems to shut down. Hackers are also breaking into online systems in order to access personal data on students.

Hello Class,
My name is Alisha Singley and I am from Meridian, MS. I teach 3rd grade at Parkview Elementary. After completing my Master's in Elementary Education, I plan to enroll in the Specialist program. Once I complete that, I plan to teach at Junior College or become a Reading Specialist for a district. I enjoy using lots of different technology in my classroom. My favorite technology is an Elmo. It is very convenient and easy to operate.
